Why was this
partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
Partnership with Social Work/Education and the Voluntary Sector. Aiming
to meet needs of some of the most disaffected young people who have been
excluded from mainstream schooling, accommodated by Local Authority or
removed outwith Authority to be accommodated within residential schools
and secure units; all experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Where does
this partnership operate?
West Lothian
When does
this work happen?
Within school hours, throughout holidays etc and depending on individual's
needs, evenings and weekends.
How does the
scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
The programme is unlike any other in that a great deal of flexibility
is applied to devise a socially constructed programme most suitable for
achievement and attainment, assessed on an on-going basis, the programme
will be altered as young people's needs change.
What are the
benefits? What difference does this partnership make?
The flexible/person centred approach to learning by all staff has been
appropriate to ensure delivery of programme and the non-exclusion policy
has allowed young people to move closer to social inclusion i.e. less
number of young people being accommodated elsewhere.
