Literacy Class West Lothian

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
We aim to provide a quality partnership which addresses the learning needs of dyslexic pupils in our schools' population.

Where does this partnership operate?
Between Literacy Class based within Boghall Primary School and mainstream primary schools in West Lothian. There is a strong emphasis on multi disciplinary working the home school partnership, and enhanced liaison with secondary schools.

When does this work happen?
During the school day.

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
P6 and 7 pupils are selected after application from Support for Learning Teacher and Educational Psychologist, with input from other professionals as appropriate. Length of placement is related to learning needs of pupil. Pupils attend for only part of their school day and are therefore fully included in the life of their primary school. Collaborative planning and action (Individual Education Plans) are formulated with the mainstream school, multi agency team and parents and regular review meetings take place.
