Sharing and Developing our Schools

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
Aim was to enable SEN students to access appropriate and challenging learning experiences in a secondary main school context. Consequently students would feel confident, valued and part of the "High School"

Where does this partnership operate?
Fife - between 2 schools. Lochgelly High School and Lochgelly North (Special) School

When does this work happen?
Ongoing. Initiated in 1999 and has been evolving since then.

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
Regular planning/review between the HT and Lochgelly North and the PT of Lochgelly High School, Department of Special Education.

What are the benefits? What difference does this partnership make?

  • Increased confidence and raising of self-esteem of all students involved.
  • Professional collaboration and sharing of expertise. Increased teacher skills.
  • Ethos of mutual trust and respect.
  • Parental involvement and awareness of their child's potential
