TIMETABLE

Monday - the pupils do environmental studies period 3 and 5 in a very small group with their key teacher. The course covers work in geography, science and history. They are studying a topic on food and farming. This topic was chosen because the pupils concerned were having difficulties making choices at lunchtime.

Tuesday - the pupils go to Fairfield to go shopping. The diary is passed between the 2 schools outlining the work they have completed, including difficulties or successes they have had with the work and also their behaviour.

Wednesday - the pupils go to Fairfield again for home economics. They cook the food they bought the previous day e.g. baked potatoes, shepherd's pie etc. This reinforces the work in environmental studies on healthy eating. The diary is passed on again. There is a meeting between the key teacher and the youth workers, highlighting any problems or successes the pupils may be experiencing. There is also discussion about activities the youth workers can do with the pupils to reinforce the topic work and also personal development targets the pupils have.

Thursday - environmental studies again with the key teacher. Work with the youth workers which has included games to help make choices, practising the routine of going to the canteen, making choices in shops and going to different shops other than food shops to buy resources for science (seeds).

Friday - pupils go to Fairfield for computing and basic maths skills. The pupils also had the opportunity to go to the Click Centre for Computing. The diary is again used to keep the 2 schools in touch.
