Exercise Club

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
It became apparent to us that some of our pupils with co-ordination difficulties would benefit from a regular exercise programme.

Where does this partnership operate?
St James's Primary, Renfrew

When does this work happen?
During and after school day.

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
Our Network Support teachers (2) and an S.E.N Auxiliary lead the groups during a twenty-minute session. Exercises/activities are taken from M Portwood's - Dyspraxia book and from Occupational Therapist guidelines.

What are the benefits? What difference does this partnership make?
The groups have been in operation for one year. We observe increased confidence with physical demands as well as improvement in handwriting and spatial organisation
