Paired Reading Partnership

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?

  • To encourage parental involvement in their child's education.
  • To improve reading of tutor and tutee through an inclusive initiative
  • To boost self-esteem of children involved.

Where does this partnership operate?
At school:

  • Teacher - Child
  • Tutor - Tutee

At home:

  • Parent - Child

When does this work happen?
Three mornings per week 8.45 - 9.05

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?

  1. All children in P3 and P6 were paired according to reading ability, meeting 3 x weekly to participate in the process, following specific training.
  2. Parents of tutees sustained the project through participation at home, following workshop involvement at school
  3. Feedback from parents at end of term also pupils and teachers.
  4. Parents group provided additional input at school

The process is repeated annually
