Science / Learning Support Liaison

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
To develop more effective links between science teachers and the Learning Support Department in order to improve support for pupils in science classes.

Where does this partnership operate?
Outside the classroom. In the Learning Support basement at Perth Grammar School.

When does this work happen?
Timetabled for one 54 minute period per week each session.

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
The remit is set by the Science Department teachers. Each session a report of work undertaken is given to the Science Department by the two teachers involved. An annual report is given to the member of the Senior Management Team with a remit for SEN.

What are the benefits? What difference does this partnership make?
Differentiated course material has been developed for less able and more able pupils and for pupils with SLD. Communication between the two departments has improved. Pupils benefit from more targeted support in class.
