Speakers: Sue Ellis is Reader in Literacy and Language in the Department of Childhood and Primary Studies at Strathclyde University where she. co-ordinates the BEd language programme. Her research directly supports the development of better policy and practice. Recent work includes working with a local authority to raise standards in writing in its poorer attaining schools and to address issues such as the underachievement of boys. Lorna Hunter is a Numeracy Development Officer with Learning and Teaching Scotland. This has involved presentations and workshops for primary and secondary teachers focusing on numeracy across learning and supporting schools with the development of the National Assessment Resource. Her substantive post is Depute Headteacher in Bonnyrigg Primary in Midlothian.
